"Over all I have been learning Bharathanatyam for more than five years now. If it wasn’t for my parents and my guru’s hard work , I would have not been something I am today. Also I learned that practicing once or twice doesn’t really make you perfect , it makes progress. So we keep practicing until we get to perfect. Everyone always have something to learn in bharathanatyam one or the other way. Bharathanatyam has changed my life from unnoticed to noticed. I get to dance on stages in different places being noticed. my teacher Nirupama is always like a second mother to me , Strict and nice at the same time. Dance classes are really a fun experience to me. Everyone who went to SRIYAM institute would not really want to leave ever, including me. With my Gurus help and blessings , I am able to learn , practice and improve in dance. I am looking forward in to what me and my friends are doing next in dance. I am Dharshini B Pillai a proud student and a disciple of Guru.Nirupama Chandrasekaran."

"I have been taking classes with my teacher for almost 3 years now. Over these past few years I have noticed that our teacher takes the time to focus on each one of her students and to help them improve in every way possible. She always has her students as her top priority, and is always there for us. Dance class is also somewhere I have made new friends and where I get to have a lot of fun. Our teacher has not only taught us to understand and respect Bharathanatyam, but also not to limit ourselves to just one type of dance form. We have explored other ideas and dance forms, and have performed in different styles of dance once or twice. Performances are another great way our teacher helps us improve as dancers, and as students. We learn from practicing choreographies that every detail is of major importance during a performance, or even when practicing steps. Keeping your back straight, maintaining focus with your audience, and many more small details help to teach us how to slowly perfect each area and improve as dancers. Understanding the meaning of each song we perform is also very important in conveying a message to our audience. Sometimes, we take time in class to sit down and understand the meaning behind each of the lyrics of a song. This is so we can understand what expressions to use when describing certain actions or individuals, helping us have a stronger effect on our audience. We also learn to have a good work ethic by practicing everyday at home, as well as warming up and reviewing ideas and steps before coming into class. We also develop many skills when performing or practicing in groups. We learn how to work as a team and perfect details to have a bigger impact as a group. Dancing well requires a lot of stamina and flexibility, both of which I didn’t have when I started taking classes. I have made so much progress, and I am continuing to improve myself in every way I can. I still have a long way to go, but I have come a few steps closer to becoming a better dancer. Overall, I have had such an amazing experience at SRIYAM. I have learned that practice is key to making progress, and that progress takes time. I have also understood that anything can be accomplished if you put your best foot forward, and if you work your hardest to meet a goal. Learning here has so far been an incredibly fun, and an amazing experience. I’m excited to continue learning from teacher and to continue improving myself as a dancer."

"I have been doing dance for approximately five years now, and it has been the best years of my life. From Bollywood dances, to semi-classical, to full on Bharatanatyam it has been so much fun! I have learned how to control my body and use it to depict magnifiscent ideas, expressions and postures. My stamina has improved a lot and dance helped me to become more athletic than ever. I find myself destressed and more serene after my class, and it is a wonderful feeling that can't be expressed in words. I can't wait to learn more from Nirupama teacher as the years go by."

"I have been learning dance for 5 years with my dance teacher, Nirupama Chandrashekar. It has been a great experience that I have been through. Nirupama Aunty taught me everything I need to know. She was the one who worked the hardest to get me to this level. The institute was well organized too. I went on stage to perform many times as well. Those were great times. The academy has lots of fun. Sometimes we perform bollywood or celebrate our success. We learn to work as a team and cooperate with each other for group dances. Over all I have to say that learning dance here at the SRIYAM was an outstanding and enjoyable experience. I can’t wait to learn more bharatanatyam and spend time with all my teammates!"

"SRIYAM institute of Indian DANCE, MUSIC and CULTURE is one of the few things that I can say has changed me for the better. Sure, everything can change you a bit, but being here has taught me so much, and it’s really inspired me in countless ways. When I first started, I had just transferred from a different dance school. And while I knew a few things, It was no match against what everyone else was doing. I was shy, and I didn’t open up. But It only took a few classes for me to feel comfortable in this new environment. Everyone was very comforting and friendly, they didn’t make me feel left out. And my teacher got me caught up to everyone in a few weeks, or even months. That’s another thing. When you are there, it’s friendly and happy, but being in this school also pushes you past your limits. It pushes you to do the best you can. Being at SRIYAM, has taught me far more than just dance. It teaches friendship, respect and knowledge. Of course having said all that, it did teach me a whole lot about dance. My teacher teaches us steps, theory, and entire dances. And when she knows you are ready, it’s time for performances. I have gained lot of experience with numerous live stage performances and won a few competitions. At SRIYAM, We keep on learning. There is never a point where you have learned everything. Because even if you've learned every piece there is to learn, there is always room to make it better. Also, being here has taught me the true meaning of dance. I’ve learned that dance is a prayer. Put your entire soul into every step, every movement, every blink of an eye, and it’ll all come naturally. Just enjoy everything the dance has to offer, and pray. Overall, if I were to describe my entire dance experience in two words, they would be: Life-changing and inspiring. Being here has taught me the true meaning of dance and so much more. And even if I do grow up and have less time for dance, being at SRIYAM has taught me to still never quit on it. This is an experience I will never forget."

"I have been dancing since I was Five years old but Nirupama aunty has fueled my love for dance and has given me such a great opportunity to enhance my dance skills and perform for my family. I feel that all the students can say that Nirupama aunty is very supportive and an outstanding teacher. I love dancing and dancing, itself, has given me the chance to let go of stress and to just be free. The Shriyam Dance Institute is more than just an organization for dance, it’s family. My team mates and I have been dancing together for almost 2 years and they are like a second family to me. We dance, have fun and make many memories along the way. I’m very glad to be a part of this institute because it has given me so much happiness and experience in dance."

"We moved to New Jersey (US) from Australia in June 2015 and were looking for a good Bharatnatym teacher for my daughter to continue her dance. Then we came to know through friends about Nirupama. Nirupama is multi-talented, skilled professional. She is very patient and committed in her profession. It is obvious that her passion for dance is inspiring. Our daughter learned and improved a lot in her dance school. She also grew a lot as a person, as the environment was humbling and calm. She tells us that she misses Nirupama’s classes very much, and hopes to find a teacher as good as her, here in Australia. We suggest her for our close friends and families. Her talent and personality truly radiates through her skills."
